Valve’s digital distribution service for gamers, is now live. Steam, for the uninitiated, is essentially an iTunes Store for games, except with more social features and demos of many games. It’s the creation of game developer Valve, the company behind games like Portal, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and one of gaming’s most beloved and legendary series: Half-Life. As my colleague, “Over the years, Steam has become the go-to place for Windows gamers to shop for and try out everything from blockbuster releases to indie hits, find new friends to frag with, and stay up to date with the latest patches.” And now all that is here on the Mac. As part of an initial launch promotion, you can download and play quirky first-person puzzler Portal for free until May 24. There has been no word yet on when the other Valve properties will be coming to the Mac, but the good news is that many third party developers already have their games in Steam’s Mac Store and are ready for you to download (often at greatly reduced prices). The launch lineup includes Civilization IV (Colonization, Warlords, and Beyond the Sword editions), And Yet It Moves, Chuzzle Deluxe, Bejeweled 2, Bookworm Deluxe, Galcon Fusion, Bob Came in Pieces, World of Goo, Altitude, City of Heroes: Architect Edition, Machinarium, Torchlight, Braid, Brainpipe, Football Manager 2010, Zuma Deluxe, and Quantz.

Nov 2, 2015 - OK, so I will start with how I think Trove has built upon the addictive beomoth that is Minecraft. Firstly, the graphics: The game uses shaded. May 21, 2010 - It's not easy being a Mac owning gamer. For so long the deserved recipient of the industries jokes and PC gamers distain, gaming on Mac has.

While many of these games have already been released for the Mac, it’s nice to see them in a centralized place like Steam’s games market. We’ll be reviewing games as they become available on Steam, so be sure to check Macworld’s Game Room regularly to get full updates on the ever-changing lineup of games.

I had this and made a wneskin wrapper for it. Wineskin wrappers are made using a program called 'Wineskin Winery' which is free.

It is basically an app which you install your game or other windows software inside. It contains windows frameworks/library files that allow you to run windows software in OSX (a mini vmware/parallels. Kind of!) Download Wineskin Winery (google it), and have a look at their website, it has documentation that explains it better than me. Make sure you up date the 'engine' to the latest version, create a wrapper, then once it's finished close wineskine winery and locate your wrapper in finder (probably in your home directory application folder) and right click on it. Select 'show packae contents' and it will show you the files inside, one of which is an app called 'wineskin' which is the config app for your wrapper. Pick install software and ten you have some options depending on how you install oblivion (I can't remember precisly how i did it).

    1) If the game has an installer pick the first option, which will ask you to locate the installer exe file. Or 2) If it doesn't need installing and is just a folder with all game files in then pick the 'copy folder into wrapper' option. Then choose where to put it (c:/program files is the usual location) It's worth reading up on the wineskin winery page to understand the other options avalable via tis config app, but I seem to remember that there weren't any changes which were essential to run oblivion. Your app should be ready. Navigate to the wrapper icon in finder (the one you clicked on to 'show package contents') and double click.

Your game should open. You can make a wrapper for a growing number of windows only apps (make one for each program), but google first to see if any special settings are needed.

    Good luck and enjoy oblivion!!
